This year, CENSIS announces its first Technology Summit research poster competition, giving postgraduate researchers the chance to practice their presentation skills, showcase their creativity, and communicate their research to an audience from a variety of subject backgrounds.

Over 60% of the 600+ delegates who attend the Tech Summit come from industry. In 2022, 36% held senior technical and management roles including CxO posts.

Enter the poster competition not only for the chance to win a generous prize, but to have the opportunity to network with these delegates and put your ideas to them.

  • Submit your idea for a chance to exhibit at the Tech Summit

Postgraduate researchers (PGRs) undertaking research that is applicable to CENSIS’s aims and objectives are invited to apply. Entries are welcome from PGRs at any university in Scotland and in any year of study. Selected finalists will be invited to present a poster in person at the Summit.

  • Who can enter

Your research must be in an area applicable to CENSIS, such as:

    • Sensing and measuring/sensor systems/remote and distributed systems
    • Advanced devices and fabrication

    • Internet of Things – including IoT cyber security
    • Communications, signal processing and networking

  • What prizes are on offer?

    • £300 towards UK conference attendance

Delegates’ award (voted for by all Summit delegates)

    • £100 voucher
  • Judging criteria

All ideas will be reviewed by CENSIS. Up to 20 finalists will be selected to show their poster at the Summit.

The shortlisting process to identify finalists will be based on the applicability of your research to CENSIS’s aims and objectives, the relevance and applicability of your research to industry, and your ability to explain and communicate your ideas.

  • What happens if your idea is chosen

If your idea is selected, you will create a poster and present it in person at the Technology Summit on 2 November 2023.

Your final poster must be A0 sized in portrait.

You won’t be asked to prepare an oral presentation to accompany your poster.

  • Important dates

Complete the form and submit your idea by 7 Sept 2023.

You’ll be notified of the outcome by 14 Sept 2023
